How to Avoid Dehydration on Summer

It’s summertime again, the sun is up high and the temperature too. However, it is also the good time to go out and have fun. While doing this, just make sure that you will not have dehydration, it is very common during summertime because of hot weather and humidity.

Who said that we cannot have fun under the sun, but we should also know how to take care of ourselves. We should know how to avoid dehydration specially this time. I’ll give you some tips on how to avoid dehydration so that you’ll enjoy your summer fully.

1. Drink water and fluids always even you are not thirsty. The recommended amount is 8-10 ounces every 10-15 minutes specially when doing energetic activity.

2. Avoid drinking coffee, tea, and sodas. These drinks are diuretic, they absorb water from your body which contribute to dehydration.

3. Eat fruits like watermelon, squash melon, pineapple and other fruits that have more fluids and juices. Coconut water is also very good.

4. Wear light clothes to avoid heavy sweating. Also wear hat and sunglasses to protect yourselves from the sun.

5. When feeling tired and heartbeat is faster, go to the shade, drink water, and rest. Check your urine, if the color is darker, that means you are having dehydration. In this case, drink water frequently until the color backs to normal.
